Natto, a kind of the traditional food in Japan.

This is a Japanese traditional food "natto" and something else on the rice. Natto is fermented beans. Don't you think "fermented beans!"? Yes, it's fermented enough for many people to dislike it. Quite a lot of Japanese don't like it even if they are adults. I hate it when I was a child; it was disgusting, smell bad, even more it was sticky. Since some people don't like it, my parents didn't force me to eat it.
However, in the past several years, I realized I like, no, I love it. Yet I don't eat it by itself, I prefer to eat it with other ingredients like Japanese radish, green onion and so on. You may not like it for the first time you eat, but if you taste it several times, you become an addict it! Also, It's very cheap. Of course there are wide range from expensive ones to cheap ones, but most of them are about $1.3 for 3 portion.

    1. Wow, thank you for your comment, and I'm sorry for my extremely late reply :( So, did you eat it? What did you think about it? You know, you don't have to put raw eggs when you eat Natto, you just need Natto itself and soy sauce if you want :D

    2. No worries about the late reply :-)
I love 'natto' very very much since i was young, hehe. And yea, i always eat with raw-egg and the white radish (the one you have in your picture). I tried once before eating without the raw-eggs, only sauce and 'natto', was pretty dry, not that nice. Hope i can find 'natto' in Holland in the future ... that will be great! Otherwise, i have to wait till i go back to my country, Malaysia, to enjoy 'natto'!
By the way, nice blog ... hope to see more posts from you ....:-)

    3. Thank you again for your reply :) So, is it common in your home country Malaysia to have natto? :) I'm wondering because even here in Japan, many people don't eat it since they're terrible with the smell about it. On the other hands, there are some people that is a big fan of it, haha. Yes, I'll make a new post soon ;)

It must be so delicious to add what you like. You know, one of my favorite toppings for natto is grained mustard. That's perfect for natto too :D
